The Rev. Fr. Clive Thomas was born 24th November 1971, in the village of Holly Innocents, La Digue, St Andrews, Grenada, to Ernest and Stella Thomas who were stalwarts in the Anglican Church in their village.  As a young boy he grew up in church and serving at the altar, as an altar server.

 

He had his Primary School education at the Holy Innocents Anglican School and his secondary school education at the St Joseph’s Convent Grenville, St Andrews Grenada.  He later was trained at Codrington College and UWI Cave, Barbados, for the sacred ministry.

 

During his studies at Codrington College he met Claudia Wendine Harewood who he married in November of 1995.  She was a member of the AYPA and Choir at the St David’s Anglican Church, St David’s Village, Christ Church.  Their marriage produced two children Clyde and Christina.

 

After leaving secondary school at the age of 17, he was employed by the Ministry of Education, Grenada, as a teacher at the St Andrew’s Anglican Primary School, where he taught for two years before going to Codrington College.

He was ordained to the Holy Orders of Deacon on the 29th June 1995 on the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, at the Cathedral Church of St George, Kingstown, St Vincent and to the Holy Orders of Priest on the 25th July 1996 on the Feast day of St. James, at the St Georges Anglican Church.  Both ordinations were done by the late Rt. Rev. Dr. Sehon Sylvester Goodridge, the then bishop of The Windward Islands.

 

From his ordination to the diaconate, Rev. Clive served in St Georges Anglican Church, Grenada, as an assistant for three (3) years.  He was appointed in charge of St David and St Pauls Parish in 1998, where he served for nine (9) years.  In September 2007 he was appointed Priest in charge and later rector of St Matthew’s Parish, St Vincent.  While in St Vincent, Rev Clive conducted two (2) missions in The Diocese of North Eastern Caribbean and Aruba.

 

He was appointed a canon in Stall of St. Anselm in the Cathedral Church of St George, St Vincent 15th December 2010 and Archdeacon of St Vincent and the Grenadines on 1st January 2011.  Rev. Clive served in St Vincent for six (6) years before resigning from The Diocese of The Windward Islands and relocating to Barbados with his Barbadian wife, and family.

Rev. Thomas’ community service and experience is not limited to the Anglican Church.  He participated in an International Study on Christianity, Poverty and Wealth in the Twenty first Century. With meetings and workshops held in Copenhagen, Denmark and New Deli India. 2001-2002. He was Chairman of Grenada Conference of Churches for three (3) years between 1997-2001. In 1999 he was appointed by The Government of Grenada as a Director on the Board of Directors of the Grenada Cultural Foundation and in 2001 he was appointed by Government to the post of Chairman of the Board for a three (3) year period.  During he service in Grenada he did not only serves as the Chaplin to the Grenada Anglican Youth Council but was appointed by the Governors General as the Chaplin to The Grenada Scouts Association, where he served for three (3) years.

 

Rev. Clive has a love for Disaster Management and served as the Disaster Management Coordinator for the District of South East St George, Grenada from 2000 to 2007.  In that capacity he represented Grenada in Disaster Management policy drafting meetings in Barbados and Jamaica.  He also attended several workshops and training sessions and is a USAID/OFDA certified instructor in the field of  Initial Damage Assessment, and has been awarded a Certificate in Disaster Management NaDMA Grenada June 2005), Certificate in Disaster Management ( H. Lavity Stoutt Community College BVI August 2005 by CDERA (now CDEMA), Certificate of Compilation of  Initial Damage Assessment Course (June 2006 Grenada by USAID/OFDA), Certificate of Compilation of  Shelters and Shelter Management Course (June 2006 Grenada by USAID/OFDA), Certificate of Compilation of  Training For Instructors Course (October  2006 Grenada by USAID/OFDA), Certificate of Compilation of  Initial Damage Assessment Hand-off Course (December 2006 Grenada by USAID/OFDA).

 

Before coming to us at St Ambrose, Rev. Thomas served in St Pauls Church, Bay Street, as an assistant for a period of four (4) months.  He and his family now look forward to their life and ministry to and with the St Ambrose family.
